Sounds like a misfire. Check your wires, spray them down with some water and see if it runs worse or arcs.

It's not common but certain possible you have a voltage leak. Are all the wires on good? Did you use dielectric grease around the boots?

I assume you are talking about a 2 speed powerglide? There are no benefits at all you'd be going in the wrong direction. If anything go with a 700R4

i used no grease didn't know it was necessary, why 700 r4 are they better than the rest ?. same gear ratio?. i will try water on wires tomorrow and let you know if it worked, maybe i will just get another set of wires and try them. what about converter for 700r4 , i just bought a new one for t-350 before i killed it

the 700r4 uses a different converter than the th350..the 700r4 is a 4 spd OD trans..lower first gear than the th350/th400, with a much better highway gear, its only drawback is it needs to have a few things done to it to equal or exceed the strength of a stock 350 trans..the 2 spd powerglide is a POS trans for street driving..from what I can tell with my '63 riviera, it stays in second gear all the time, bogging *slightly* in town and screaming on the highway. When you stick it in low, it goes into first. Bogging in town and screaming on the highway are two strikes against fuel efficiency, not to mention you lack additional higher forward gears for speed..its just not a wise choice. Converters are not the same on any of the GM transmissions, not to mention I wouldn't use a converter (even if its new) from a trans that died with the converter in it. Any matter in the fluid from the old trans could trash your new/rebuilt trans.

I agree if your TH350 puked your new converter is worthless. Start over unless you spent big bucks on that converter you can have a shop cut it open and rebuild it.

The 10 bolts seem to live a shorter life with larger tires when they've been neglected. Carrier bearing failure is quite common and usually ends up in a trashed assembly.  If you find a good 10 bolt though don't disregard it bc they are still pretty durable. People rave about them being better than 12 bolts due to pinion shaft diameter but I've rarely seen 12bolt failures caused by a weak pinion shaft. What exactly failed in yours?

havent taken it apart yet, but i am thinking the pinion shaft. it just spins when truck is in gear and nothing moves. it has spool in it too. is it farly pricey to rebuild with good axeles gears etc...?

Well that explains it. If you are driving on the street with a spool it's only a matter of time before it breaks.

10bolt + spool + street drving = good combination for failure.
