>:( headlight adjusters...
« on: August 06, 2011, 11:46:40 PM »
i bought 2 boxes of the plastic headlight adjusters, @ $5.40 a box. the first box, i put the first one in, and one of the tabs breaks off. so i drive 5 miles back to napa, and they give me another box for free, so i was happy with that. but the second box, i put the first one in, and yet another tab breaks off. >:( then i put the screw in the other one, and it strips. brand new, right out of the box. is there anyone who makes one out of metal? im sick of the plastic ones that dont last. well i may just buy a box of 25 from the store here, but id like to see if anyone can get metal ones. thanks in advance.

I use the black ABS plastic ones for license plates. Theyre softer and dont break as easy. Idk if they make metal ones.

wow. i was so mad i put this in the wrong section. lol. ive been thinking of a way to make a metal one. maybe itll work.
i was thinking, if i get a nut, that fits the screw/bolt for the adjuster, that fits tight into the rectangular hole on the truck, i can tack weld the nut to a little chunk of steel, to keep the nut from pulling forward. hmm. i may just have to try it. but where did you get the abs ones?

It was either oreillys or walmart. Theyre license plate mounts.

Are you putting them in and pushing the bucket onto them or are you extended them all the way out and running tension on them..  I have used the plastic ones all the time.

I have had the same problem with the ones from NAPA, and the same with some from two other parts stores. The black ABS strips out before you get the light into proper adjustment. I just run my plow lights year round because I have yet to find adjusters that are worth a crap.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

Sourcing parts is always such a pain. You usually end up getting some chinese piece of junk that falls apart in your hands, or they want 10,000 dollars for a factory quality part at some specialty site. Its really rare that you can find quality parts for a reasonable price.
