im lookng for a cowl mold on/weld on my hood looks like the one in the pic but its just the scoop with the hood body line up the center i dont want the whole hood (tryin to save money by just buying the scoop to weld on or mold on)
-

Spend the money. By the time you get done welding a hood scoop onto your hood it will be so warped out of shape it will wave at people going down the road. Only way I would do it that route is to pop rivet a fiber glass or plastic on and leave them exposed.
-
I agree with Blazin, some parts you don't skimp on if you want it to look good spend the money, save somewhere else it will be worth it in the long run. And get a steel hood not fiberglass much better fit.

I agree with Blazin, ............ And get a steel hood not fiberglass much better fit.
I have a fiberglass hood on my 81 C20, and a steel cowl induction on my 86 Extended cab. The fiberglass hoood will be transfered to the drag truck in the future. It looks ok, not not as good as the steel. Save the dough, and get the right one the first time.
-
I have never had a steel one. I did have a fiberglass one. It fit pretty good but needed allot of block sanding to look sharp.
-
I agree save the coin and buy a steel hood. I found mine from a guy on ebay that was trying to sell a factory hood and he just happened to have a 2 inch steel goodmark hood. I scored it for 100.00 so the deals are out there. Trying to mold a fiberglass hood scoop to a steel hood is alot of work and to me it just doesn't look right afterwards.Spend the money wisely and go with a steel hood or go with a full fiberglass hood. Try chris here for a steel hood or try these guys.

I've never had better luck than with http://www.reflexxion.com/rfx/content/section/5/27/
The fitment was actually better than the oem hood on my 74.
-
wo thanks to all of you for all the info you guys gave me im probably gonna get a steel cowl hood for my truck now that i saw what you guys said it will be awhile be4 i get it but id like a 3 or 4 inch hood if any one knows where i could find one like that let me know
-
all 3 or 4" cowls are fiberglass.
-
well that sucks cuz i dont want a fiberglass hood or scoop i wanted steel i guess ill have to settle for a 2 inch scoop thanks
-
too bad your not in TEXAS, I can get you a good deal on a 2.5" steel hood
-
Do not get the FBI or AIM steel hoods!
I bought one for my 01 Silverado and it fit like crap. Some of the welds on the underside weren't finished, they popped off and the outer skin actually bowed up on the sides.
-
wow thanks for that info i will not buy one from them
-
go to trucks or summit has them. i think the ones from summit are fiberglass tho. not really sure. i really want one but dont have the money for it right now.
-
I sell steel cowl hoods here....
-
how big are they?
-
Big enough to fill the space between the fenders. :P
I believe the cowl is 2" tall.
-
Yes, it is 2".
-
hahahaha. ok
-
summit offers a 2in mold on steel hood and a 5in mold on steel hood
-
I had a friend who welded a scoop on his hood and when he got done he had so much body work to do to straiten it out that it wasnt worth it. I agree with these guys save your money and buy you a good hood. It will be worth it in the long run and you will be much happier with it.
-
well my idea i had if i got a mold on hood scoop was to glue it on with lord fusor metal bond so that way there wouldnt be any real waring issues and then cut the hood not the bracing so it would be a funcional hood ???
-
As long as the scoop has a finished edge the fusor would be fine, but if you wanted it to blend, you are back to square one.
