Hey everyone, I have a couple of questions... I have an 82 k10 fleetside...The body side moldings are looking like crap, and I was wondering, since it is rather expensive to replace them, about just removing them altogether. (1)Are there any holes underneath them? Are they just taped on? I'm hoping there are no mounting clip holes underneath them, before I go pulling them off...
Also, I have the tailgate filler panel....What is underneath that? I've seen tailgates that are recessed with "Chevrolet" stamped through the skin...(2)Is that a different TG or the same w/o the filler panel? One last question, (3)what is holding the panel itself on the TG?

around the corners there will be holes. On the inside of the tailgate there are screws that hold the cover on. So there will be holes there also.

I found removing the old side moldings one of the biggest pains in doing my resto. As VileZambonie mentions, the bed corners and tailgate trim are held on by screws (or clips) so those pieces are relatively easy to remove. The rest involved a lot of elbow grease with a heat gun, scraper, and acetone. I'm sure you can figure out what the heat gun and scraper are for but to remove the old glue that held them on I found that acetone was the only thing that worked consistently. Keep in mind I knew I was going to be getting my truck repainted so didn't care too much if some of the old paint was removed too.

there is also a rubereracer wheel you can find in most auto stores (napa) from 12 to 30 bucks and it saves your paint to as long as you don't stay in one spot then remove the wheels residue with rubbing alcohol it took 1 1/2 wheels 4 my fleet side and worked grate
