Title: Newb... Now with pics.
Post by: Stantonss on December 16, 2008, 02:49:23 pm: Whats up guys? I'm Scott and I've recently acquired an '86 shortwide last week. I've always wanted one and after a few years of bugging my buddy I finally got a great deal from a great friend of mine.
I have yet to do anything to it but put a new battery in it, but it has the following:

700R4 tranny with shift kit
Auburn Posi rearend W/ 3.73 gears
Shaved door locks, stake rails, drip rails, and mirrors

It's been repainted the original white and lowered as well. Runs pretty strong, although there our a couple noises that need to be adhered. I'm extremely excited of my new addition and look forward to getting know some of you guys.

They were shaved for her....never mind. They were shaved with the drip rails and door locks. Gives it a clean look. I like it but I have to have mirrors on my truck.

I definitely have grown some paranoia without the mirrors.... Still haven't got used to that.

As for the tires, I wont put any real meats under those fenders until I do a drum to disc brake conversion. Which I am hoping will be my first big pocket emptying project.
But, when I do, you can bet the space will definitely be utilized!

Post by: oldwhity on December 23, 2008, 01:15:48 pm: It looks like the rear is still the stock length. Were the shock mounts moved? If so, you could probably get away with more backspacing on a wider wheel(or have those widened).

Post by: Stantonss on February 16, 2009, 03:46:29 pm: I'm not sure if I mentioned it here or not that my fly wheel was cracked and needed to be replaced... We got under there (barely) 3 of the 6 tranny bolts were gone and two of three left were finger tight (loose).....

Anyways, got the flywheel replaced and she's running like a champ....

Next up is to finish where the the previous owner left off on the bed and new wheels.... For now.
