my dad came up with something today. how well would having just high flow cats and no mufflers on my truck work. true duals headers and just cats. just an idea. what do yall think about the exhaust setup sold on here? like the mufflers he offers.
-
It would probably sound good. I know with my 95 I had a straight pipe after the cat and stock tailpipe. It sounded great but the locals hassled my 17 year old in town giving him a warning ticket. Plenty of trucks louder around so as to not stir anything I put a muffler on it.
-
I never had a cat on my truck. I drove around on open manifold one time. I couldn't stand it after a day. After I installed headers, I had to drive across town to get exhaust work done. It was a lot louder. Much more fun to blow by people on the highway. ;D
-
I have heard that it sounds pretty good, but cant verify that myself. I am a firm believer in an x pipe. I did drive my 68 bigblock El camino downtown one day. Was fun watching all the windows shake ;D

Muffler Delete=Problems with Neighbors X Trouble with Local Police/Etc= Nice Size Ticket and Other Unwanted Law Enforcement Attention :P
I haven't had a chance to buy anything from Chris(Capt Chaos) Site/Site Store Owner, but I do know he is a Stand up Guy, and the Majority of the Vendors I know the store has offers some quality parts(Have been Impressed with GoodMarks Quality Standards for their Body panels for years, and Pypes is one of the better larger Aftermarket Performance Exhaust Company)... So I definately plan on going through the Store when I can(It just may take me a while before I am able to do so)....
Chris has one of the Best Prices I have seen, when it comes to the Complete 2wd Systems the Store Displays on the site....

I'm going to be purchasing some items as soon as I get some cash coming in.
-
yea i know its a really good price. i kow it would sound really good with out the muffelers and just straight pipes but a lot of people already hate my in my neighborhood so i dont think they would be too happy with me driving through it at 1 in the morning. ;) i think i would get in too much trouble to do straight pipes as far as the loudness. i still have to do emissions so i have to have cats. so i think im going to get the loudest mufflers i can. ;D ;D any suggestions??

Single chamber flowmasters w/ 2-1/2 inch pipe
-
i know i am getting flowmasters but idk which ones to get. im thinking the super 44. any comments about them?
-
sound good, not really loud, but loud enough to enjoy
-
i have been thinking about it and i think im going to go with straight pipes and just cats and headers. ;D piss some people off :D

Dump the cats then. Just run straight pipes of the headers.
-
Single chamber flowmasters will blow you away. I took one off my race truck and put it on my wife's dually and it would literally shake the ground/house/everything. You could here the truck coming from a mile away. You could FEEL the exhaust with that muffler. I recently changed the dually over to a dual chamber muffler and I can actually talk and listen to music just fine. Now I don't hear my wife coming until she's a block away.

The exhaust sound is my music ;D

i have to have cats. i have emissions here. i really like the sound of the headers and straight pipes.
-
You don't have to get mufflers with the system we sell. But they are simular in sound depending on the choice.
I have a clip of it somewhere....
-
You don't have to get mufflers with our kits, they are optional. They list what they sound like in simularity.
-
i know. i think im going to buy your kit and do just cats instead of the mufflers.
-
Prepare to drone your brain right out of your skull. You'll be puttin mufflers on it.
-

You will HATE it. Get mufflers. Although they are an option, you will have to get mufflers to fill the space for them to fit. Otherwise you need a section of pipe.
-
does it sound bad or is it just loud?? im going to do headers too.
-
I run open headers for three months it sounded good but you could not hear yourself think. I had to put mufflers on it because it made for an uncomfortable ride if you went very far. It also attracted alot of unwanted attention for the cops,I never got a ticket but I was lucky.
-

It is drony. after about a month (if you are young)it will become annoying... I couldn't stand it for more than 2 minutes.
-
ok i will keep that in mind. i have a few months do think about it. im waiting to do taxes to get the duals.
-
i want something thats fairly loud and aggressive. what muffler should i get for that kind of sound?
-
I love the sound of flowmasters.
-
i do too. thats the brand i want to go with. i just cant decide on which series i want to go with.
-
I would go with the delta 50's. I have them on my 75 gm gives a good rumble but not to loud to attract cops.
-
anybody heard the super 44s??
-
You could always go with some exhaust cutouts if you want a compromise. Has anyone here ever tried that? How expensive are those kind of setups anyway? I think it would be funny to blow by a cop with the cutouts open and then close them up when you get pulled over. " Gee, I don't know officer, as you can tell it wasn't my truck you heard...."
-
The electric cut outs that you open and close from inside the cab are pretty expensive but the one you have to uncap manually aren't all that high. I bought a new set at a swap meet for $10.
