Ive searched and searched and have found no straight answers so its time to ask questions. lol Starting the tear down of my 86 K-20 Silverado and my plans are to put a 6BT 12valve non intercooled Cummins, nv4500 tranny and a 205 transfer case in it. this is going to be strictly only a cruising truck and pulling a gooseneck horse trailer on occasion. i would like to stay away from body lifts(never liked them) and im going with a 4in suspension lift to clear the oil pan of the 6bt. my questions are.....
1. What nv4500 should i look for? Chevy or Dodge?
2. Will i have to fabricate a new tunnel to fit the nv4500 trans? (ive seen that some have and some have not)
3. Will i have to hammer/push back my firewall to fit the cummins?(ill more than likely be using Avalanche Engineering's crossmember. http://www.avalancheengineering.com/xmember73-91.html (if that means anything))
4. What # spline 205 should i look for?
5. And any other pointers/tips that you might have experienced?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is going to be a long project but it will be worth it in the long run.
Thanks, Andy
