Title: rear end question
Post by: Jakes82 on December 27, 2008, 05:03:11 pm
I recently bought a limited slip carrier from auburn. the description was-

Auburn Gear
Limited Slip Differential
1988-Prior
2.73-Up
GM 8.5'' & 8.6'' 10-Bolt, 28-Spline

will this fit a 4:10 or 3:73 gear ratio?
sorry but this gear stuff confuses me.
any  help would be great. thx

Jake, I'm not sure what the "8.6" is all about... The 8.5 has a large case spread, 2.73-in the 4's is all the same. So yes, either the 3.73 or 4.10 will work on there. Lorne

8.6 is what they are calling the 99-up 8.5 10bolts.  I have NO idea why.
