I am in the process of resto-modding my dad's 84 SWB and am nearly to the suspension portion of the project. I know I want to use Western Chassis components (spindles, springs, flip kit, shackles and C-notch), but can't decide on the amount of drop. It's going to be a fair-weather cruiser and will hopefully see some long cruises and maybe even do a Power Tour one day; definitely not a daily driver. I will be using 17x8 and 17x9.5 TTII's with 245/50 and 275/50 Nitto's.
My other 84 is lowered 3/5 and it's not really low enough, while my brother's 87 is 4/6 and seems about right, but I keep wanting a little more to make it stand out. Does anyone have any pic's or suggestions?

subscribing, Im at same crossroads ;)

4/6 is a good setup for daily driver. A 5/7 is fairly low for that, but it can be done. Is it going to be all air or static drop?
-
Thanks for the information. It will be a static drop.

Personally I would go 4/6 if you are static.

I was deliberating this same question myself just days ago. I decided to opt for a 4/6 McGaughy's Drop Kit. Looking at pics of other trucks with drops can help a bit, but 4/6 and 5/7 does look pretty close in pictures.

Thanks again for all the suggestions... I'm still having trouble deciding between the two. I know the 4/6 is low, but I just can't decide as of yet. When the truck is back together with fenders, I may do some measuring and decide exactly how I want it to sit.

My truck has the 5/7 drop and I cut a half round out of the coils :o so it is more like 6/7. I really like the way it looks but it is borderline to low. The ride is still good but when I turn deep it rubs the wheelwells. If your truck is gonna be a daily driver I would do the 4/6.
