Title: Picture Question
Post by: GoatBeard on December 30, 2008, 12:55:53 pm
Hey guys, I'm stuck and thought I'd try to see if any of you had seen this problem before.  I'll try to explain it to the best of my ability.

Have you ever had anyone on this board have their "attach" feature for pictures just disappear?  This is what happened to me on my K5 board, it's the same, uh...brand (not sure what you call it) as this board -- looks the same, same features, etc...

I first thought it might have been some pushed update on Vista, but I still have my "attach" feature on this board, not sure if it's the same version, but it works here.  There are others on that board using Vista who are not having issues, either.

I've tried using IE & Google Chrome, but neither work.  I thought it might have been something in Google Chrome that got messed up since it's in BETA, but it should still work in IE.  Besides, it worked just fine for about a month (we just upgraded versions on that board, too) after the upgrade, then, all of a sudden, it messed up.

I logged on one day and POOF, no attach feature.  That wouldn't have bothered me so bad but I also lost the ability to view any posts where other people have used their attach feature to post pictures.  It's just gone.  I changed nothing.  So people are talking about a picture someone has posted, but I can't see it...  Honestly, it just kinda kills the purpose/fun of the board.

Anyway, I guess it's kinda odd to ask this here, but you've been doin' this for a while and I thought you might have a simple answer to this problem.

Thanks,

Sam

Sounds like a problem with their website. I would upload your pics to photobucket and just post the url using the image code.

Didn't you say he changed the location of the files so everyone has their own "area" if he moved them, you url (the path to the pic) is gone.
As for attachments.  The newer version of SMF won't allow you to modify posts with attachments.  It is a bug, but I haven't had any response from the to fix it.

The attachment ability is an option on SMF if he changed everyones location he may have turned the feature off so you have to URL all of your pics.

Well, I finally got it fixed.

What it was is that they had changed me to a "Global Moderator" and somewhere in the code there was a box that was not checked that turned off all images for Global Mods.   ::)

Thanks for the help.  I was at the end of my rope!  It's all good now though!   :)
