Title: How low canI go?
Post by: 85 lowrider on December 31, 2008, 09:39:53 pm
Hey, new here and just got my first full size.(85 lwb) I want go lower it about 5-7 but was wondering how low can I go without doing a c-notch? Also how will the ride be with a 5-7 drop? Any suggestions on cheap lowering kits? Trying not to stick to much money into it, but I still want it to look killer. Thanks for any help.

I lowered my truck 5/7 and cut a half round out of the front coils. I was gonna do a c-notch but I haven't yet because my truck has never bottomed out on the frame. I did put some bumpstops above the axel just in case, they came with the flip kit. So I think you will be alright with the 5/7 and no c-notch. As for the ride my truck rides good but it still rides like a lowered truck. The lower you go the more ride quality you will loose. You will need to decide what you will do with this truck the most, daily driver or weekend cruiser and then choose your lowering kit.

Will I be able to haul anything without the notch? Nothing more than 2 dirtbikes. Thanks for the info.

If you are going to be haulin stuff then I would c-notch it. You might be alright without it but to be on the safe side I would notch it.

Anything over 6" in the rear I would C-notch it if it is a driver.  If you are going to put dirtbikes in there, c-notch it, you will bottom out.
