Title: switching from a standard shift indicator to an overdrive indicator
Post by: bigjayfromwa on January 01, 2009, 11:11:47 pm
Hopefully you can help me out...  I have a 76 chev 3/4ton 4x4 and i am looking at swapping out the th350 tranny for a th700r4 tranny to get the overdrive option.
My problem is i would like to keep the column shifter instead of going to a floor shifter.  Do you know of anybody that makes as shift indicator that i can use?  since i only have P R N D 2 1 on my dial?  or if there is any other chevy model i can buy to get the overdrive dial?? (without too much modification)

I really dont want to have to modify the interior like that, i would rather leave the stock appearance.

Thank you very much for any information you may have!!!

Jason

Swap the indicator (2 screws on the cluster and one on the column shift tube for the indicator wire) and you're good to go. New ones are about $35 IIRC.

Any truck that came with a 700R4 will have one.

There is a shift plate inside the column you need to modify too.
