Title: Well Dash and Carpet is next, I guess.
Post by: treepete on January 05, 2009, 01:37:38 pm
The 2 places I have found online are ACC for the carpet and also  . I saw the new black dash pad on   also.
These items are both quite expensive, so I thought I would ask If anyone has a new black carpet or dash pad laying around, or knew of some awesome parts place I never heard of for these items.

It seems like ACC is the place to get carpets though, from what Ive read and seen. Im interested in a brand new setup, and also concerned about where i can get the best price, really.
Any suggestions or definate "keep away from this jerk"-places I should watch out for?
thanks for your thoughts,
Pete

On that same link at the bottom it states " Auto Custom Carpets 1973-1987 GM Carpet Kit. Covers complete floor with insulation from the seat forward. Specify Transmission Type, hi/low hump, and drivetrain type and color section number. " and it's $25 / lb for shipping.

It isn't $25 per pound for shipping.  The shipping weight override is 25lbs.  The cost on standard cab shipping for carpet is $22 give/take.

The GM dashes are listed here:

ok awesome.

Is it possible to send in a sample of my naugahyde/vinyl stuff, for the closest possible match?> I see several offerings that are similar, but I cant tell from a picture. Would you (Chris) possiblly consider selecting the carpet for me based on your best matching swatch? I was considering going with black, but since you have massive colors available, I was hoping you could match me with the best red-u-black you had.  Could you let me know please?

thanks for your consideration,
\Pete

I had ordered my carpet (ACC) with the understanding that I had the "automatic tranny hump". Once i pulled the carpet back....I found out that my truck was originally a manual and had been converted. To say the least, the carpet was short a good three inches in width. I ended up exchanging and all worked out in the end. what a hassle. wish i would have saved a few bucks and bought from Chris :-)

High humps are in manual trans trucks either 4x4 or 4x2 and 4x4 trucks.  Some later auto 4x4 trucks also got the tall tunnel.  All Blazers have a tall tunnel.  It is ALWAYS best to verify before ordering.

I don't mind sending you all the samples I have of either red or black, but what do you want red and what do you want black.

I guess Im here deciding how far I can take the interior this winter.
Im on the 4 year  rotation plan, and trying to keep the truck drivable most of the time.
so this winter, its interior. stereo, dash, carpet, all that. I have this great start with some reddish black headliner... and yeah, so I painted some of the trim black. I need to get black plastics, etc. dash pad blahblah and the stereo. next year the exterior, then the engine , then suspension. this cycle will rotate every four years. then in 3 cycles, Ill give it to my son. thats the long term plan.
I guess its best for me to get all black everything, match with the SEM-style approach, and just piece together the stereo from ebay and crutchfield when I have time and spare dough.
so yeah, Im after all black interior for the most part.. maybe some red accents etc on the seat.
I want to roll the stock bench seat, cause its rad. but I want black rolled velour and my cracked leather red naughbacks for the seat. I just dont know how itll wear. but for the 20 times I drive it a year, I dont want wear problems. see my other thread for explanations there. :)
so yeah. can you make a custom carpet with multi colored flames and stuff? :D
I want double jute carpet instead of the "jute only in the front" carpet.
sorry if im over the top.. im just new and this phase will pass. thanks for havin me and for your replies.

Pete

So if I've got a 4x4 I need the high hump one right?

Whats the hump at the back of the small hump for (where a console would go)?  Mine doesnt have that.  I ordered the small hump carpet from stockinteriors.com.  It came in an ACC box but was way cheaper then on the ACC site.
Mines a 2wd 3/4 ton.

The choices I came across were "large/high hump", "small/low hump"  and there was another for a "TH400 transmission" (didn't say 2wd or 4wd).

If those ones in those pictures are low humps than mine's definately a high hump, but what's the difference between the two pictures, cause on of that has an extra hump near the rear?

Crap, I hope I ordered the right carpet then, cause the hump in the second picture is even smaller than mine.

treepete,
If you need to change it shoot me an email.  If you can take a pic of the trans tunnel that would help, BUT there are only 2 versions of Trans Tunnels.  High and Low.

Yours is a low tunnel trans with the rear section clearance for a transfercase.
