Title: 5/7 drop issues
Post by: 85 lowrider on January 06, 2009, 08:54:18 pm
Are there any issues I should look out for with a 5/7 drop? Any common problems with this much drop or is it pretty much just a bolt on thing, with the exception of notching the frame? I have a little knowledge in lowering trucks. My last truck was a ,I know, Ford Ranger that I lowered 6". That wasn't to bad, just had to notch the frame. I was just wondering if there was anything I should look out for. I don't want to get into this and find out there is something I can't handle. I would appreciate any other advice you guys can offer. Thanks

Mine bolted right up, no problems. I think you will be fine.

IF you have a long wheelbase you may have to shim the rear pinion.  Other than that, bolt in.

It is a long wheel base. Is shimming the pinion the same for lifted trucks? I also have a jeep cherokee that I lifted 4" with 33's, and I had to shim the pinion on that to get rid of drive line vibration. If its the same process, then that shouldn't be a problem.
