Title: Alternator
Post by: Blazin on January 08, 2009, 10:56:36 am
Anyone know a parts place that carries a quality high amp alternator, 130 /140 amp? All my parts places around here can only get a 94 amp one for my 86 K30!

Have you thought about a CS install?

i know napa can get Bosch alternators.  And jeg's/summit have MSD alternators which should supply your 130/140 amp requirements.  They're high dollar, but probably worth it.

Have a place that can rebuild mine to 135 Amps for about $100. another place that said to upgrade to I think he said CS, ( Was up till 4:00 AM plowing, & have talked to about 20 parts stores etc. ) He said it would be a one wire set up, and go by RPMs. $175!

I would just convert to a CS alternator also.

Dropped the old one off. It would have been about $150 with the three wire CS alternator. He looked at mine said around $80 to rebuild it to 140 amps. So I opted for that route. He said the CS alternators he would recommend would require mount modification too.
