I was just watching Barrett-Jackson 2009 and I saw a '69 C-10 Custom sell for $12,500. It was really nice, I thought it would have gone for more than that? I mean the NADA on my truck says $3000 and my trucks a piece of crap....just wondering what you guys thought?

About the value of the '69 or if your truck's a piece of crap?
LOL. I'm not surprised by anything at Barret Jackson anymore. I mean '71 Hemi Cudas are bringing in over a half-million. Actually, it makes me want to vomit because the value of musclecars and their respective parts has become so over-inflated that a normal guy can't even afford the parts to restore them. So you have $500 NOS hood liners for '69 Camaros popping up on eBay. >:(

Barrett Jackson is not a good guage of car prices. It is a ego trip with collectors with empty pockets competing with each other.

Yeah, i kinda look at Barret Jackson as a big joke. Every once in a while you see cars on there go for what they are actually worth in reality, but most of the time the end price is way overblown.

You got that right!!! Especially when even the Non Driveable Rust Buckets are going for $10,-30,000, cause the Owner saw a rebuilt one go for $75,-2Mil... >:( I can't stand Ferrett Jipsome, and other Rip-Off Auctions.... >:( >:( What's really great, is that's $500 for a NOS Camaro Hoodliner, but one for a Yenko/COPO/Motion/Berger/Etc. is usually double to trip the price of the "standard" piece(There is no difference) ::)

Yeah but fads come and go, i think eventually (may take a while) the prices will settle back down to where they are supposed to be. Society loves to follow television, for some dumb reason. When all those poker shows were in their prime, thats all my friends ever wanted to do when we got together is play poker. I also noticed that in my town (and everywhere else) when those motorcycle glorifying shows started getting so popular that the level of bikes cruising around skyrocketed. I live in a town thats population is about 40,000, and you would see maybe 1 or two bikes a day. After all those shows got so thick, you see them everywhere. And what's funny is the guys even dress like the guys on those shows. Ugh...

No, we all know my truck is a piece of crap...
I didn't really think that barrett-jackson was a good gauge of values, it just seemed to me that since most every car sells for like $30K plus, it just seemed weird that such a super nice '69 C-10 would sell that low....

It's worse than that, One guy had a camaro hood liner NOS for $6,500.... Retarded as heck.
It's making any of the good cars for the RICH only, no car on this earth is worth half a million dollars unless you're a manufacturer and its a prototype or something. All dollars, no sense.

so, like, no matter how bad I make my truck, I could only expect to ever get maybe 10k? CRIPES... THIS HOBBY IS A MONEY PIT.

Well, for me it's an investment......
An investment in sanity, cause without having something to work on I'd lose it at work, it's a good outlet for me.

I completely agree. it keeps me out of the tavern and at home in my garage where I should be. With my family and garage.
