Title: 1975 Silverado Just getting started.
Post by: ms4972 on January 18, 2009, 09:22:56 pm
Just getting started on this.  Doing a 4-wheel "Big Brake" conversion, hydroboost conversion, tubular a-arms and rear trailing arm conversion.  I like the original patina so not sure what I'm doing for paint.

Here's an update.  Installed the tubular a-arms, 3" drop coils, 2" drop spindles, 1 1/4" sway bar and wheels.  Truck rides a lot better than it with the eibach coils and Bell Tech spindles.  The CPP spindles actually brought my wheels in and solved my tire rubbing issues.
The wheels measure 18x8 in front and 20x10 in the rear.  It's amazing how the wheels made such a drastic change to the look of the truck.  If I have time this weekend I'm going to install the 13" brake kit.  Will post pics.

Looks great! I take it the sway bar is made for the a-ams and or by the same company. The way it mounts is different than stock. Was it a kit?

The sway bar works with tubular arms and the stock arms.  It uses the endlink style mounting at the arm.  It does not use the stock frame mounts.  I had to knock out one of the rivets on the x-member in front of the motor and locate off of that.  Other than that it was a slam dunk.

Got off my butt and installed the Classic Performance Products (CPP) 13" big brake kit this past weekend.  Very easy install, I had already installed thier spindles on my truck.  The kit uses a bolt-on caliper bracket and a forged aluminum aluminum hub.  The zinc washed rotor slides on to the hub and the clamping is done by the big 52mm dual piston calipers.  I'm really impressed by the improved stopping power.  Very confident this kit can and will outperform any C-5 kit on the market

Great looking truck! Brakes are NICE. I like the rat rod suggestion. That is getting big around here. Trucks from farmers fields with incredible engines and drive trains, bad paint, lots of rust, etc. Just kidding. Saw one at a show Sat. that has stop signs for the floor pan. LOL
