I'm putting a '95 5.7 TBI into my '87 SWB. Stupid me...threw out the 305 TBI that was in it. This project has been mothballed for a few years, so I've lost track of what went where etc..To make matters worse, I dont seem to have or remember there being an air pump, but the hatnes manual says there should be one.
Does anyone have a link of where I could find an illustration or photo of the accessory configuration on these engines? Would anyone have a photo of an '87 engine bay they could share?
Thanks in advance

Got a 88 out side if that will help
Passenger side top has ALT below that is the AIR Pump
Driver side I am not 100 percent on havent worked on that side :) Ac on top Power steeting bottom

Top one is a 87-91, bottom is 92-95 serpentine

Thanks guys. Neither photo looks familliar though. The alt bracket indicates it can only go on the passenger side. The hoses on the steering pump indicates that it goes on the drivers side. I'm unclear as to what I'm missing for the air pump assy or if there was an idler. This truck doesnt have AC, the sepentine belt is narrower and has one groove less than the '95 (So I'll have to change the alt pulley I guess) The power steering pump uses a standard v-belt.
Frogman, you wouldnt have a pic would you?
Thanks very much guys. (If I had access to an '87, I'd just ask to take a peek of course)

Is yours a compromise of a V-belt and a serpentine? If so I have that on my pickup. It actually isn't a "serpentine" setup.
Why can't you use the setup on the 94? It is a much better setup.

Here ya go its not the greatest but with all the stuff in there its kinda hard

Perfect, thanks Frogman!
Capt, I guess I could, but I wasnt sure if I could get a belt size to work. (95 had AC which is gone now) Do you know if a 95 air pump will work with the harness / comp (prom?) in the '87?
Thanks alot guys!

Should work fine. did your 87 have an air pump? Does the 94 have it?

Those pics aren't my engine, but I thought they might help a little.

Capt; I honestly dont remember if the 87 had one. I dont have an air pump for either...must have had a brain fart and scrapped it with the donor truck....duh me.
Thanks for the photos Don

I thought the airpump went away when the tbi came in ???
-
My old '87 didn't have one when I got it, nor show any signs of ever having had one like exhaust manifolds with the air tubes or brackets, etc. It did however have an extra place for a belt on the front of the water pump pulley.

Sheesh...I never concidered there was never one to begin with....I AM QUITE POSSIBLY RETARDED!!!!
:-[ :-[ :-[
Come to think of it, the exhaust manifolds didnt have those little tubes.....I'm an idiot. (hanging my head in shame)
Thanks for the picks of the alternator details though.
