this is my truck the blue stepside, the black one has the wheels im gonna use, and the red one is what i want the rest of my truck to be when finshed, tell me what you guys think, my truck is still down to the bare frame right now, thats why im using pics of other trucks to show what i want when done
-
That will look sweet when you can get it accomplished.
-
Looks like a good plan
-
I love that red stepside!!!!!!!! love the rims and the turn down exhaust pipes
-
You got a great plan. It will be sweet when you get it done.
-
thanks guys, the red stepside how the exhaust is, thats how im running mine as well, my truck will look similar to the red one except the front bumper wont have lights in it, it will be using the biger mirriors, im not to sure what the proper name of them are but they are the stainless steel ones with the 3 bolts that are covered under the actual mirior head, as well as the marker lights will still be there in front fenders just instead of amber lenses they will be the clear ones with amber bulbs, but thanks for the comments guys i hope to have it done this summer i hope 8)

I have seen the exhaust run out under the step with a wide flat tip(we call them camero tips around here). I think that looks pretty good.
It is similar to this.

wow those tips are pretty cool looking, thanks for the idea im open for more if anyone has some to tell thanks 8)

We are a retailer for Pypes Exhaust. We have that exact same part available.
-
im still deceding if i want to use the old school wheel, (gray wheel) or the american racing hopster wheel (chrome wheel), either way they will be 15x8 in front and 15x10 in rear 8)
-
I like the hopsters, they are a good looking wheel. I had a buddy that had a set of 17s on a mini truck and they looked awesome. I dont think you can go wrong with them.
-
i think thats what im gonna use is th hopster i was wondering tho will a 15x10 with 5 inches of back spacing work in the rear of my stepside without having to change anything?, or modify anything? 8)
-
I dont know for sure but I dont think you will have any problems with a 15x10. Mabye someone who knows will chime in.
-
I would hang that red stepside pic up above my bed so every night I could dream how sweet my truck will someday be! Nice project please keep us posted!!

also i have a question theres a guy i know wanting to sell world product heads for 700 bucks and he said if i buy them he'll give me the motor they were on which was a Chevy 355 that needs a cam, cam bearings, and cranked machined or replaced its a 4 bolt main and he showed me the dyno sheet it made 450hp with the heads and an edelbrock perfermer intake and a 650 carb now i was wondering if you guys thought this is a good idea to buy or not thanks 8)

10 inch wide rear wheels with 5 inches of backspacing will work and look just about perfect. I put 16x10 wheels with 5 inches of backspacing on my truck -- browse through the thread for my stepside you'll see some pics of how the wheels fit within the wheel wells:

thanks for the link i was wondering now did you lower your truck? because i didnt see that you did or i missed it and if you did how much? also if you did did you need those blocks in the rear to make the rear tire and wheel combo work. i lowered mine 3 inches in the front and 5 in the rear so do you think your rear combo will still work with mine im not good with figuring that stuff out thanks for your help 8)

I lowered mine with 2-inch drop coils in front and a hanger/shackle kit for the rear, resulting in a 2/4 drop. With the slightly lower than stock tire height I'm running, the total result is near 4/5 drop from stock. I don't think you'll have any problem with your drop. My tires wouldn't clear the inner edges of the fenders, even with a 4/6 or 5/7 drop. If you're worried, you can always "roll" the inner edges of the fenders to guarantee no rubbing. I did nothing special to make the wheels and tires fit other than a lot of careful measuring.

well this my build plan set in stone for my 1983 chevy stepside 2wd, and this is what im doing to it and il post a few pics of whats done so far, i lowered the fram 3 inch in front and 5 in the rear im going to paint it blue probably cobolt blue, with a cowl hood, stock grill and front bumper from a silverado that has the lights stacked on top of one another, paint the srip in middle of grill to match the wheels, which is gum metal gray, as well as paint everything from the door weather stripping in the same gun metal gray with black dash pad, black and gray bench seat black carpet, and black headliner, so all metal gun metal gray and everything else black or blck and gray, a decent sound system probaly just some 6x9's in the cab corners, 6.5, in the kick panels and a good cd player, im running a 1987 chevy 350, i have a new process 4 speed over drive manual trans. gonna run 3.73 in the rear, also a roll pan and i decided instead of caddy lights to just use the stock lights and move them down as far as i can on the stake pockets, i think it will look good wel heres a few pics of what wheels and some progress on my truck let me know what you think or youd do different thanks
-
couple more pics of body work and the cab before i started
-

ya its a blast working with him, its nice to because hes awesome with the mechinal side of things and i can do the paint and body work, so the only thing im not doing is makeing a new seat cover, a buddy of mines brother is doing it for me for next to nothing, but ill put the cover on also what would be a good tire to run for the wheels im gonna use? ther 18x8 up front and 18x9 in the rear id go 18x10 if they wee made in the stly wheel im gonna use thanks agin, and let me know 8)
-
Tire manufacturer, size or? Not sure what you are asking.
-
what size of a tire im no good at figuring that out and it still look good, also a couple ideas on some coompanys to use, im just building it to cruise and show, might run it down the srip every once in a blue moon just for fun but just mainly a cruiser 8)
