Title: oil leak
Post by: nikesb1111 on January 26, 2009, 01:24:20 pm
so i have an oil leak in my 86 k10 coming from around the inspection plate, its a 350 with a 700r4. Its leaking motor oil but i cant really tell exactly where its coming from but its all over that area. I was thinking maybe the rear main seal. Any ideas? also i have holley 600 four barrel and whenever i take the truck out of gear the fast idle kicks on, any ideas?

pull the cover and spray it off to find the leak.

It could also be a leak at the rear of the intake manifold, where it meets the block.

or out of the oil pressure sending unit hole, or out of the distributor hole

we had the same problem at my work with one of the work trucks. what we did is GM sells some kinda seal renewer that you put into your motor oil  wich swells up the seals and makes them not leak anymore. worked really well still hasnt leaked. but this is also just a quick fix and only works if its leaking around the seals.hope that helps

your oil pan looks rotted amongst the other leaks.
