Title: bumbers
Post by: 84chevysilverado on January 26, 2009, 03:04:26 pm
so im restoring my 84 swb. dont have the money to buy new bumbers plus they are in really good shape no dents and they arent bent. I do have some little rust on them just here and there around the bolts that hold on the bumper and license plate. what I was thinking was sanding the rust with say 1000 grit sand paper just to remove the surface rust. or maybe buffing it out. would this get rid of the rust and bring out the chrome again? has anyone done this or does anyone have any better ideas.

It depends on how bad the rust it.  If it has eaten through the chrome you won't be able to clean it up.

+1 on the steel wool, it will do wonders.

Did someone put your "B" key where the "P" goes?

This stuff is great too

Been using it for years and nothing I've tried has beat it except rechroming.
