Title: Tire fit / opinion
Post by: mattevandavis on January 29, 2009, 11:19:24 pm
I have read that the oem back spacing for 15 x 8 is 4" but not sure how some of these will change the stance.

aslo which do you like?

The second one 164. Is this for a 2wd? The backspacing will be different front and rear if you want it to have a wider track in the rear. The facory tucked the wheels WAY in on the back.

2WD.

I m new to the whole wheel thing.

So do I want more or less back spacing to get them closer to the body?

More backspacing moves the tire towards the center of the truck, less moves the away from the center.

Thanks.  That actually makes sense.

Any idea how little I can get away with?

You are going to be limited on what you can get from a common wheel.
3.25's the least and about 5.5 is the most for a custom wheel maker.
Standard wheels stampings are about 4-3.25.

The ones above are going to push the wheels out.  Depending on the size of the tire, it may put the tread at the fender lip.
