Had a extra car on craigslist I'm selling. It said right in the ad price is firm please don't ask to take less. Guy emails me and just as a reminder I tell him price is firm don't ask to take less. He calls me we chat I give him a friendly reminder please don't ask to take less. He comes and looks at the car and what does he do? He tries to get the car for nothing. :o

just for that I'd increase the price. Each time someone asks for a lower price, add $100.

Yep I agree every time they counter offer I would go up the other way. Heck I do that in our business people always try to get out of jail for free. They are like "ah man come on can't you help me out." Yeah sure I'll help ya stop breaking the law stupid.

That cracked me up!
I do that also go up when they go down.

3 times though he was told not to ask about taking less money and yet he did it anyways. I politely asked him to leave, didn't care if he had enough money to pay full price or not. :'(
Oh and he drove 2 hours one way so he has 4 hours and gas invested for nothing ;D

Well I give up on craigslist. I'm going to the tried and true newspaper ad. I got 3 more replies with people trying to talk me down and one guy that keeps stringing me along saying he's coming with the money this day then no wait I can't do it till that day. ::)

Here's a thought why don't you just jack the price a little. then let them talk you down to what you wanted anyway. And if they don't try then you get more. Win,win situaion for you.

Now that it's tax season, they're going to ask if you can hold it until they get their taxes. ::)

You know what, you are probably going to get the flakers, no matter where you put your ad. I've had good luck with craigslist, but rotten luck with prospective buyers. One guy called me today, wanting to know if I was firm on my price, and would I take a mid-70's camaro as a trade. I told him I wasn't interested in a vehicle trade and he hung up on me! ???

My craigslist experience is usually my price is to low. In many cases, I will run something week after week sometimes 6-8 months... for example I had 4 15x7 GM truck rallys for $50 with trim rings and caps... I got several folks interested. It wasn't until I raised the price to $100, I then sold it for $80. Same goes with cars in the past. My 95 has got more interest at $2750 than it ever did at $2200.

Well today was the first day of my newspaper ad and around 8 am got my first call and the guy came and bought the car, no hassle, no haggle ;D
