Title: Heater Core Question
Post by: teaks28 on February 05, 2009, 07:06:33 am
Hi, new to the forum, I have a question regarding the heater core in my truck that earlier this week began leaking all over my floor.  Im pretty sure I know how to replace it but Im not sure which heater core I need to replace it with, AC or WO/AC.  I drive a 78K10 with a 87cab, im not sure which one I will need because although my truck has no AC, it is set up for it and all it needs is a compressor and some hoses. i know i will find out which one I need when I open it up, i was wondering if anyone knew what i might find. Thanks

I would say the A/c one unless you removed all the A/c components at the firewall.

I would agree, the a/c version is shaped differently because of the shape of air handler.

You use what came from factory regardless of if the ac works or not or if youve removed certain components

If it has AC, you can ONLY put an AC core in it.

I work in auto parts and we get this a lot.. for a lot of parts... rads, belts, hoses, switches there are 2 models with or without ac and when we ask and they say no but the part doesnt fit... They dont comprehend that even if the ac pump was removed or disconnected that the rest of the parts still are for factory air. its a daily struggle.
