When I get my new engine built I may do a little truck pulling with my 79 K20. The class I want to run requires cast iron exhaust manifolds. I can get the rams horn corvette manifolds with 2-1/2" outlets. Would these be a worthwhile upgrade or would I be just as far ahead to keep the original manifolds? Engine will be a 406 SB with 300-350 HP. Headers would put me in a class with non streetable dedicated pulling trucks.

You would have to make sure the exhaust pipes do not hit the frame when exiting the manifolds, and any other issues bolting them up like hitting the motor mount. The cast in bracket on this one is for the alt. mount, which can be cut off. Left side of the engine exit straight down and the right side exit at about a 45 deg angle.(see other manifolds on this site)

I'm not questioning whether or not they will fit. I know someone who has already done it, so I know it can be done. I realize I would need custom bent pipes (as I would with tube headers as well).
I'm wanting to know if the rams horns flow enough better than the originals to make it worth the time/money/hassle to do the swap.

If you must run iron manifolds, those are the ones to have.

Digging up an old thread. Thanks for the replys and I think I'll give them a try. Another tip someone told me was to use two Right side manifolds then I wouldn't need to cut off the altenator bracket.

Not sure if they'll fit a 73-87, but I don't see why they would be any harder to fit than an original ram horn manifold.

Thats a cool idea, wish I would have thought of that when I ran them on my cj7.
