Title: Kick Panel Speaker Pod installation question.
Post by: treepete on February 08, 2009, 09:40:19 am
Gents, I have the silverado kick panel speaker pods from Chris.

What mounting options do I have? I have the speaker installed, but have not completed putting it into the truck, because I have some more work to do on them. When it comes time to put them onto the original kick panel, I dont want to just screw them on, cause it would leave screw holes... any thoughts on ways I can do this without screw heads being exposed?

thanks for your thoughts.

Pete

Just use nice stainless screws or use velcro

I used self tapping hex-head screws that were larger than the factory ones.  They went right in.

There is velcro dual-loc in the kit that you use to hold it on.  I have mine semi-installed in my Burb and haven't put the dual-loc on it yet.

Thanks for the replies.
These pods, they were from RodDoors, and they were alone in the boxes. This may sound stupid, but can this velcro you talked about hold up the weight of the speaker, etc. its just a 6.5 memphis coax.I assume that I have to call roddoors for the velcro?

If it was missing (they have a new packer apparently this is the second one they left stuff out of) I can have them send the stuff.  Yes it will hold up the speakers.

I didn't get the Velcro in my kit, either.  Too late now.  ;)

I'm not sure what zone you are talking about?  I have a lot of pictures though.

I guess a pic of how the self tapping hex head screws looked, and how the pod was attached to the panel etc.

I don't have a good pic, but I made tabs on the back of mine and left the specker out until I screwed the panels on, then put the specker in. Then you would not see the heads.. Chris may have some pics of mine.

Thats a great idea for keeping it where you don't see the screw heads. Once again I have to say you have the cleanest interior 8)
