I'm jealous I tried to get a 66 but it didnt pan out. I did end up with a 94 chevy extended cab z71 though but its too modern
-
This is my fourth one of this gen. I had a 63 years ago. I 6 with a 3 spd. Had a 66 long bed step side, mounted on a 78 chassis but they didn't shorten it!!! The best one was a 64 C20 step side, 283, TH 350. I wish I still had that truck. I put HEI in, Block hugger headers, 3" exhaust back to 45 degrees, and out in front of the rear wheels. No mufflers. She sounded swweeet!

Looks can be deceiving. Floor is pretty hurt. Hood has rust holes through the top of it in a bunch of places. Bed is pretty rough too.

Sweet! I'll build your trans if you wanna finish the bodywork on my GMC! lol Seriously though I'll rebuild the trans for ya if you want. Definitely worth the price$!

Man Blazin. You're hard core! Nice 66. That's my H.S. graduation date! lol But I ain't free.
-
Nice, free I understand. I had a 63 SB stepside myself. Someday I hope to land a 64-66 longbed with the big back window.
-
I had a 64 GMC long bed stepside. It looked a little funny. It had a big V-6. The machine shop told me it was a 305...I dont know if he was correct or not. It ran great though. I ended up making it a chop top and left the windshield. It was given to me by my great great uncle. My first old truck and my first tear down.
-
Yeah they were 305 CI V6.
-
good score man, I like those style of trucks. My best friend has a 66 gmc small window long bed stepside... but funny thing is that there is know cut out for the spare tire... (maybe someone filled it?)... who knows
-
I have seen a few over the years without the cut out for the spare.
-
mine did not have the cut out for the spare. It has a rack in the bed.
-
really?... even long boxes?... wonder if it was a special order?..... I know we are off topic guys, but all chevy/gmc trucks are cool.
-
My thread, looks like on topic to me! ;D
-
camp,
I dont know if the spare placement was special ordered or not. I do know that my bed was not the original to the truck. Wen I started doing some sanding, I found the different color paints. I think my uncle who gave me the truck mush have wrecked the back end or something. I dont know much about the truck, I was 16 when it was given to me.
-
interesting..... i think it looks better deleted.... more of a clean look...

Looking at the '66 and making plans, Blazin? I like that body style. Looks good with the cab clearance lights. :)
Does it have much rust cancer in the cab?
-
Its rusted to the point of it probably being a parts truck.
-
Well I fired it up today. Ran pretty good for not being run in over a year, little skippy! Sounds like a good tune up would solve that issue. Ran for about 20 mins, just as I was going to try and see if there is any transmission at all it ran out of gas! It was getting dark so I gave up for today.
-
Tomorrow you will have plenty of day light. Dont forget to set your clock forward.
