Title: 88 Crew Cab
Post by: levisjohnson on February 09, 2009, 08:39:58 am
Just bought on Saturday.  88 Chevy Crew Cab, 6.2 L Diesel with dual 20 gallon tanks.  Interior needs a lot of work.  NO RUST!!!  One dent in the tail gate can probably be hammered out.

Diesel trucks are usually good as far as rust goes. The fuel is a good rust inhibitor. Nice find!

Thanks,  This will be a slow process...not muck hard work.  Just a lot of little things...Gauges, dash, seats, floor and headliner.  Oh and PAINT!

Nice truck.  Looks pretty good from the picture. The NO RUST is a plus.

Darn you southern Americans and your lack of rust!  Here in Canada most trucks of that age look like swiss cheese!   :D

Nice project. May be easier to replace the tailgate that repair it. I want a deisel eventually. May put a cummins in my crewcab eventually.

I am in the process of selling my home and my realtor does not want it at my house.  So I have it at a friends garage and can only get there once about every 2 months.  I only paid a grand for it.

Plans:
new batteries (stone dead for sitting for a year)
change all the fluids (oil and transmission)
change all filters
Start with dash and gauges
one piece window kit
finish interior
shorten frame and put a SWB bed
paint (gun metal gray/blue)
4 X 4 conversion
wheels
then work on dressing up the engine
