ok so im new here...or really to trucks in general. im 16 and just got my 1st car, a 77 c10 stepside with a 250 L6 that was rebuilt 3,000 mi ago and 3 on the tree. it also came with the optional fred flinstone floor panels (the truck was $450 runs amazing and looks terrible). my main question is where to start? do i just cut the old ones out and boltup some j.c. whitney replacement ones? or what?

i've j.c. is crap. check out what chris has for sale. he can cover pretty much anything.
however you are kinda vague...what needs replacing? most things are a simple cut, weld, grind, paint deal.

First off, Welcome, glad to have ya. Second, can you post sme pictures so we can get an idea. Definately want to fix the floors soon, and Cris (CaptKaos) has lots of parts at very competative prices, if not way less. The difference, is he can get you the right parts the first time. Give em a try. Lots of great guys here who will help in anyway they can.

ok ill try to get picks up asap. it might take a few days tho. but rust is deffinatly gonna be a big problem on this truck (hence the $450)

Ok question is hows the rest of the cab? The rockers bad? Inner rockers shot? Hows the cowl/firewall? How much you willing to spend to make it right? Chris here sells everything you`ll need to replace the floors with.I would`t reccomend jc whitney unless you really want to.I bought floorpan sections from them for my 1st cab and the parts didn't fit right at all even after i tweaked them.I would get with chris and talk to him on the pieces needed to get your stepside back into shape.

Ok thanks so much for the info. One more random question: if (in the distant future) i wanted to swap a v8 in would the stock 3 speed hold the increased power?

To the rockers question: there pretty bad like probably past repair and firewall i dont know from the little ive been able to crawl around in it lately it seems fine but to say positivly i need to look at it this weekend

deff post some pics man so we can help you better, and as long as the v8 is stock the 3 speed would be ok but if i was you id change that to a muncie 4 speed on the floor, or richmond just to be safe and so you can get rid of some of the linkage to the tranny, whe mine was on the tree it use to always get stuck between gears so i got tired of it and put it on the floor 8)

Ok thanks. i would love to get a 4 on the floor but i'll deal with that when it comes thanks for the info tho just tryin to visualize what i want when im done. Im gonna try and get some pics tomorrow but they prob wont be up till this weekend. when i cut whats left of the floor boards out do i have to do anything to keep structural integrity to the cab while they're off?

Well to be honest my motto with cars in general is that they're built to be driven. And sometimes that means DRIVEN. so ill deffinatly upgrade trannys. What would be a good manual to go with?

go with a SM465 its a "4 or 3" speed

go with the sm465 if you go with a v8. 2wd tranny's are fairly cheap that i've seen around here(around $150 to 250). Try a local craigslist.com. Thats where i got mine the other day.
