Title: stepside bed wood replacement.
Post by: fitz on February 15, 2009, 05:40:10 pm
Has anyone had any luck replacing the wood on their stepside bed with planks from Home Depot or Lowes? I've got a 6' stepside that I'm putting on my beater to replace the homemade stepside bed that's on it now.
I plan to use it as a parts hauler so it's not worth buying one of the nice oak kits online for it.

You can buy the stainless strips from Chris

I like the look of the old barn wood, yours looks good. Do you have a picture of all of the inside of the bed?

Not at the moment. I will get some when I get the stainless sheet for the sides and paint the rest, My body man still has the fenders.

BTW I still have to make different boards for the end pieces, the ones in the pic are to short. I guess I could just cover up with the corner strip but it wouldn't be right.
