Title: cleaning a cloudy headlight
Post by: chrpmaster on February 18, 2009, 10:37:37 am
Sorry this isn't a Chevy truck question but I thought you guys might have some ideas for me.  I need to clean off the cloudyness on the inside of the headlight on my 96 Chrysler town and country.  Any ideas on what to use?  It is a sealed unit that you just replace the halogen bulb when it blows so I don't have access to the inside of the lense other than the hole the bulb goes in.

Thanks
Andy

I don't know if I would do this but a guy I know took his headlight off his grand am and filled it up with CLR cleaner let is sit for an hour, dumped it out then filled with water, then dumped that out, let it dry and it came out as clear as new.

I would recommend CLR or Lime Away...or Simple Green if you can find that.  I have only seen it in a  few places.

I just polished a set of head lights for a friend. The kit was made by 3M and worked awesome. Unbelievable difference.

vile,  thats for the outside only i think.... but that stuff works really well though..... just like wet sanding works well also.... CLR is the best for the inside......

Forgive my ignorance but could you identify CLR for me? I have been looking for something to work on the inside. Thank you.

If your getting debris inside there is a opening it it somewhere your inside rinse will find it, seal it back up with glue.

Thanks guys for all your suggestions.

I stopped by my local junk yard and the head light they had pulled had the bolt hole broken off so they had to pull another one and I still need to stop back and pick it up.  To bad too since the first one looked pretty good.  Oh well hopefully the next one will be in as good or better shape.
