wow... that is cool

good thing it's on our side ;) cool pic!

That is cool. I'd love to have a military Blazer. There used to be a place right off base(Fort Meade) that sold them stripped down along with older police cars. I think their gone now.

That is AWESOME! Thanks for sharing!

Just curious, why would the gov't (both us and iraq) use a truck from, at the newest 91(although this one looks to be 87ish) as opposed to brand new? Most gov't agencies use within 5 model yr vehicles.
i don't have anything against this practice, in fact if i were in charge of vehicle procurement i would do the same. Also, i noticed that the my local fire dept. still uses a 81-87 pickup which is cool.

im in the army reserves and the reason the army still has the blazers like the one above is because the army or a military branch lives by the fact that if it aint broke dont fix it, with the army, anyways for example we dont change the oil every 3000 miles or nothing, theres a vavle on the motor that you open and take a sample of the oil and send it to a lab where they test it and they tell you when the oil needs changed or when it needs rebuilt if its a deisel motor, thats what we do with all motors weather its a gas generator, or a tow behind light tower that has its own genator on it, and also some army units dont fet govt funding like others or should i say as much as others so if they cant afford to upgrade to humvees then they have to keep rockin the blazer 8)

I could not help but chime in on this... I drive by a National Guard outfit every day on my way to work (I work on an old Air Force Base) and among the humvees there sits a single, solitary K5. That's kinda cool. At least to this vet it is.

The National Guard still use the blazers in my area also. You pass the base and there are two sitting there and sometimes you meet them on the road.
-
Yea I work beside the natinal guard and there whole lot is filled with square bodys from blazers to single cab duallys only a couple hummers...but that is cool about the trucks in Iraq

Inexpensive to maintain, parts are universal with Most all of their other vehicles in the fleet, and in alot of cases, their is a MotorPool Head that actually likes them..... I knew that alot of the Local Baseshave cycled them out, only to have brought some more back in..... That's like why were the Willy's and Ford Flatfenders that started Service During WWII/Korea, and sometimes used well into the 1990's with some areas ??? Same reason as Above, just like so many other Military Vehicles.....
