OK lets hear what everyone had for their first car for there brand shiny new drivers license?
Mine was a 2 door 72 Buick Lesabre, 455, TH 400, 3:23 rear. Was a burnt orange color with a cream vinyl top, & interior.
Also had a 74 Gran Torino Elite at the same time. 400M, C6, with a 3:55 9" posi rear. It was white, white vinyl top, blue interior, original factory 8 track Philco AM / FM radio. Bought it from my mother about two months after I got my license.
My first truck wasn't until a year and a half later. 78 C 10, 350, with a three on the tree. The guy I got it from had put 3:73s in, and a lincoln locker in! He also put the wide camper special type rims with bias ply mud tread tires. Probably about a 32" tall tire but equal to a 14.50 in width. Every one thought it was 4x.
Had several other before I got my license, yard machines!
-
My first car was a 69 Camaro 350 4 speed Blue exterior black interior.
Bought it off the original owner still had the Window Sticker from 69.
Since I was a "teen" I thought I could go faster with a 3 speed need less to say I kept blowing them up lol

1993 Chevy S-10 SWB
2.8 V6 Manual
2WD
Dark Grey in color
Converted to 4WD buy cutting an S-10 blazer frame in half and welding it to the rear portion of my frame. I could not tear up the engine. I did crack the bell housing on the auto trans about a months after converting to to 4WD. Welded it back up and its been running ever since. Sold it shortly after that.
-
It was going to be a blue 65 Impala SS. Lost interest 1/4 way through and pick up the 70 Monte Carlo. It was black on black and has a 305 with a th350. It was fun while it lasted.
-
1982 Chevy S-10, lwb, 2wd, 2.8 v-6 with auto trans. It was a ugly truck, I put a big plastic nose from an affrin display on the front. Everybody called it THE NOSEMOBILE :D Had alot of good times in it though, :-X man sometimes I miss that truck :(

1979 C10 Stepside Blue/blue with a 350 that the PO built by putting a 327 crank in it with 350 pistons with a 3 on the tree. I discovered the "mystery" engine after I tore it down. Still have the crank. It met its demise when I centered a Telephone pole late one night in the rain. It was probably the straightest pickup I have ever owned...

I went in half with my Dad on a '65 Mustang hardtop 289 4bbl. Got it looking pretty good, but parked it in favor of a '64 Galaxie. Wrecked the Galaxie and broke my back in the process, so I got something I could get in and out of... a fairly new, for 1983, '79 C10 Bonanza maroon with silver sides and top and a 305. Within a year I was getting aroung better and put a 396 bbc th400 in it.
My dad drove the Mustang for a few more years, it was pretty ragged out by the late 80's. I have been carrying around with me ever since. Started restoring it a few years back and found some very rusted floor boards. I bought a welder, some sheet metal, then decided to do a "practice" build on my '75 Siverado. Now that the chevy is looking pretty good, I am itching to restore that old Ford.
-
My first car was a 66 Chevelle ss 396 w/ 4 speed that I got shafted on because of my stepdad. Long story, and pre drivers liscense. Living in the country, I did burn a few sets of junkyard tires off of it before I had to get rid of it.
My first vehicle after my liscense, was a 61 Ford Econoline window van, 170 cid ( I had to rebuild one for it first after my mom threw a rod in it) with 3 on the tree. My Grandad bought it new in Dec 1960, and made it into a camper, with a couch that folded into a bed, a table that folded up, even a 12 volt coffee pot. He and Grandma drove all over the place in it I still have it, and it cant be bought.
That was followed by a 50 Dodge Coronet that I drove out here for a year with a gas can on the front bumper because the original one wasfull of holes. Still have it too. All were acquired before I turned 17, and the corral has exploded to 20 + since then, even selling several over the years
-
My first car was a 1980 Chevette. I was 13 years old and my grandpa said if I could make it run I could have it. I worked all summer for a famer spraying weeds in a bean field to buy a junkyard motor for it and dropped her in.
I traded it for my first truck before I even hit 16. It was a 77 chevy silverado shortbed 4x4. It was one of the rustiest trucks you would have ever seen and had an unoriginal 283 in it that smoked pretty bad.
-
Mine was a 1977 Malibu Classic, 305 auto.I had got it when I turned 16. My 17th birthday my dad said he needed to barrow my car so I got to use his truck. Now mind you I never got to use his truck cause he used it for work and he was always afraid I would tear it up. So any way I had to go to work that day and when I got off I took his and washed it cleaned out the inside, as to thank him for letting me use it. He had taken mine to the local muffler shop and had new full lenght chrome side pipes put on it (granted they were cool back in the day) so he was so excited for me to notice them all I was trying to do was show him how I had cleaned his for him. Then the sun shined off the side of them and I noticed what he had done. We laugh about it now but man, that thing was loud. It was fun I could watch it pop blue flames out the side of them.
-
my first car was a 78 grand prix that i got when i was 16 and still have today not the best car but it is a good one it took me to elementary schools to high school
-
First one for me was my dad's old '77 sport he bought new. I fixed all the rust and painted it in shop class. It looked better than it did but you could tell it was a shop class paint job ;D

Second, (had both about the same time) mom's old mustang she got for graduation. it had a 302 with a 288 cam in it. it sounded so good!

'81 305 Caprice Classic.

I grew up on my family's cattle ranch, so I ended up with my Dad's hand-me-down pickup trucks. Learned to drive in a 1953 Chevy 2-ton flatbed hay truck, out in the fields. After I got my driver's license, inherited a 1970 GMC C20 bronze with white cab, then a 1977 GMC Sierra C20 (that was a great truck!). Both pickups were 3/4 ton longbeds with manual trannys... and real workhorses. Those pickups got worked hard.
-
My first truck was my yellow 81 chevy 3/4 ton with a well worn 350 engine. It ran great. Got me to and from school just fine. The engine has now been upgraded, along with the interior. Just have to finish the body work and get it painted. It is not going anywhere.

OK, Old Yeller was my first. Rebuilt the engine when I was 15. Didn't bore it, It lasted until one day i was going down I95 south from college a few years later and smoke was a blowin'. Rebuilt another, bored .30, flattened heads---that baby was AWESOME! All on a college guy's budget. I had a few fender benders with it and learned to do body work, and have replace more fenders, hoods and radiators than I can remember on it. Painted in 1970 Ford Yellow, cause I love the black highlight on it, like the 70 Boss 302's. I still have it.
Then I got a 65 coupe. I restored as concours correct when I was trained to be a judge and learned all the details. Won trophies at mustang shows in D.C. Still have that one too.
Then I went to a mustang show and found an original, numbers matching, window sticker still intact, from the original owner, '65 GT Convertible Mustang A code engine. I had to buy it for $6500 back in '89. Still have that in my garage.

My first car was a 1988 Pontiac grand prix baby blue with bald tires and i got it cheap cause when i bought her she was sporting to big long deep scratches along the side from when some one keyed her at the car lot
-
The first car that I paid for with my own money... a green 1970 Chevy Nova 2-door with the 250 c.i. inline-6 motor and manual 3-on-the-tree column shift. When I left home after high school and joined the Air Force, I shelled out a whoppin $700 for that car. She was a clean car, straight body (no rust) and original paint job (I was the 3rd owner). I wouldn't mind finding another early Nova, but geez they are expensive now!

Good ol 1985 Ford escort 2 door auto, Maybe thats the reason why I am a chev guy now....lol... thanks dad
1989 ford escort 2 door, standard. :-X Had the electric seat belts that would always try to choke you. Smashed it into a brand new off the lot Honda accord, totaling out both cars. The next week i got a 94 mustang GT 5.0L.This was back in '99, so i was the envy of all the other punks ;D
-
My first car was my 1992 Nissan Maxima. I still own it, and there is no car more comfortable for long trips IMO. The lumbar support in those seats is absolutely phenomenal. I someday hope to have a 73-87(91) crew cab or an 84-86 extended cab to stuff a set of those seats into. My second vehicle was my '84 GMC Sierra Classic longbed 2wd. high geared gutless pos..technically, i still have it for part of this spring (i hope anyway, it was sitting at a friends waiting for us to yank the transmission, hitch, exhaust, and rear shocks off of for parts for my '83 shortbed, hopefully he hasn't gotten impatient and scrapped it, since I was supposed to be finished with it last summer.) I also still have my first bike, my '82 Kawasaki KZ550 ltd. Though I still like that bike, I'm finding it harder and harder to get myself motivated to work on it. I've been occasionally drooling over a Ninja 650R to replace it...
-
You know now that you mention it, i had a friend with an early 90's maxima and we always talked about how comfortable the seats were. Hmm...

right on good story man.... thanks for sharing

1972 Malibu 350/350th it was that God awful yellow (my GF called it baby crap) with a black interior.......I painted it black and styled to look like an SS454 and even had a LS-6 TH400 and a Ford 9" for it. It met a solid object with a substancial amount of velocity, I did get the parts to put it back together and did most of the work but sold it off.....dum dum dum. The 74 C10 is my first truck, I almost bought a 1963 C10 SWB back in 1985 but got a 69 H.O 4 speed GTO instead.
-
My first truck is my 1994 S-10.(Still my DD) Its got a 4.3 and 4l60e and its 2wd. I probably had 4 or 5 different exhaust setups on it within 1 year that i had it. lol finally decided to leave it with thrush turbo and a turn down. It's be my loyal companion for 3 years now. I shackled the truck right when i got it to lift it 1.5inches for the cool stance and to fit big tires on the back. It takes me anywhere except through mud no matter what kind of tires I got on the back of it. lol
(http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z177/Bighemi353/s-10007-1.jpg)
I got to share my friends first truck though. Its everything I wanted my s-10 to be but no so redneck. lol its 1991 S-10 with a 2.5l 4 banger with a 5spd and 2wd. I sold him my 31's that I had on my K-20 and he put them on the back of his truck. We straight piped it and put an exhaust stack in the bed from a International 1486. Its louder than crap! I bought him cab lights for his birthday as a joke and he put them on it. lol this truck will go through some mud. I was so surprised. he took me mudding yesterday in it and that thing would almost go anywhere. He knows its redneck and he likes to drive it hard as crap but he doesnt care what other people think of it and neither do i. here is a video on youtube. cant figure out to get it to show up here.

88 Hyundai Excel that my dad gave me. Rolled it over within a week. Went from that to an 82 Firebird. Not so tipsy and alot more power.
-
my first car was a 76' ford gran torino elite had a built 351 windsor and a 9" rear....that thing was a tank
-
My first was an '83 S-10 blazer, 2.8l with a 2-Bbl and a 4 speed, 4x4. Not a bad little truck but hardly enough power to move out of its own way...
Way cooler was my second ride... Although it is kind of a bummer story... An '81 Trans Am WS-6 with a 305 Chevy and an M-21 4 speed. T-tops, Bright Blue with the bird on the hood and the shaker scoop. My dad picked it up for almost nothing because the original owner was upside down in it, and my old man hated to drive it so it eventually became mine. It was a screamer. It wasn't that fast, but man it would hang the rear end out with hardly any effort at all, especially with the close-ratio 4-speed. Way too much for me to handle. I sold it after high school because I was tired of getting into trouble with it, and saw it three weeks later all smashed up on the back of a roll-back on it's way to the junkyard. I cried for almost a week. Anyways, I will have to dig up some pictures of it( I've got plenty of burnout/donut/racing pics stashed away somewhere), but it looked just like this one:
-
My dad found a pic of my first truck I'd forgot all about. I didn't have my license yet but drove it anyway. ;)

Here's mine:
It was a 1983 citation X-11. It was my mom's car until I bought it when I was a senior in high school. It had a 2bbl 2.8V6/Auto. It had a functional factory cowl hood on it. Man, I thought I was cool then. I guess it was the precursor to the sport compact movement. I got the car in '94 and sold it in '96 to buy my first chevy pickup. An '88 C1500 LWB. Fast forward 15 more vehicles and you get to the '86 I have now.
-
my first car was an 84 chev caprice classic with a 305 and a 700r4.ben a chevy guy ever since.
