Title: Switch off-Wipers on
Post by: JBerryhill on February 28, 2009, 12:25:04 pm
I have discovered a new problem with my truck, I did a search and found no one with this one. With the ignition off I can turn my wipers on and they work, I have a new wiper stalk switch, a new motor and a new delay module. The only thing I can think the problem is someone has done some screwy wiring to it in the past.......what do ya'll think?

Sounds like it. Make sure it is wired correctly.

it seems it's been hooked to a hot wire, instead of a switched, it could cause a fire  :'(

There's a good article on El Camino Central on this.  Scroll down and click on the link to Troubleshooting Wipers.

(It's probably hooked up like that because the motor was malfunctioning at one time.)

Wiring is always a pain. I had a transmission shop run the lockup on my TH350C through the radio circuit somehow. It took forever to figure out what happened. I'd replace the fuse, put it in gear, let off the brake and then the fuse would blow. Good luck!
