Title: Headers
Post by: Bitzer! on March 03, 2009, 02:52:26 pm

Hey guys - I'm trying to find some decent headers for the old girl but having the usual difficulty of getting them shipped to the UK. I've found "Doug Thorley" but we've never heard of him over here!

Any one fancy buying and shipping for me at a decent price?

cheers

Bitzer

I am a dealer for Doug Thorley Headers, but I don't know what shipping would be as I am not setup to ship international.

I can call them and see.  I can't make any promises.  They jerked me around on my last order and I let them know I wasn't very happy.

Maybe try checking into FlowTech headers. They have a long tube header that fits great. Avail in ceramic coat as well for a decent price.

I'm running a set of ceramic-coated Thorley Tri-Y's.  They look great and the fit is excellent.  They slipped right in without a single four-letter word.  I was impressed.

I have a factory big block in my 77.  When I got headers a few years ago, the exhaust shop ordered Thorleys, but could not get them to fit.  Thorley insisted that they were made specifically for my set up.  Nothing else on my truck had been modified.  They ended up sending them back and installing Heddmans.  The two mechanics who have worked on my truck since tell me that they are "cheap".  Since rebuilding the motor and installing Edelbrock heads, one of the headers is warped and leaks. I would love to get Thorley headers, but I am a bit gun shy.  Any other suggestions?  I do plan on lowering the truck in the future.  I have Flowmaster dual exhaust.

I've had Hooker Competition headers on my shortbed for the 10 years I've owned it and I have no complaints. No real problems getting to plugs, no burned wires, and no leaks/cracks (*knocks on wood*).
