I've got a noise that I'm going to call a roar in my truck at 50 - 55 mph. It's not rpm related because it does it in other gears. The truck has new windshield seals and is fairly quiet except in this speed band. It has window visors that were installed before I got it. The noise is not noticeable with the windows 1/4 open or more.
Has anyone else noticed a problem like this? Is it an aerodyamic buffeting problem? Are the visors causing it or making it worse? ???
thanks,
Rock

Does it do it when the window is all the way up, or just craked. Mine do it if the are just barely cracked open. My trucks without thevisors do it a little, but it is more noticable with the visors.

Chopper, it does it worst with the windows up. Of course, it's quieter then, too.
I had a Suburban, can't recall which one, but if you rolled down the back windows and left the front ones up, the wind buffeting was unbelievable. As the windows closed, the noise went away. My truck is the opposite and I'm just trying to figure our what's causing it or if it's "designed in".
Thanks for your reply.

does it change over different road surfaces? By visor do you mean those shaded vents around the doors?

It doesn't seem to matter what road surface I'm on. Yes, those little stainless steel "brows" that mostly smokers installed to allow them to crack the window and not get rained on. I believe they're still called visors.

My sub does the same thing, so I understand where your coming from. How are your weatherstrips around the doors? None of mine do that with the windows up, so its not by design. I dont know what to do now, other than check the door seals. ???

My hearing is not what it once was. I took Ms. Rock out today and let her have a listen. She thinks it's caused by my tires. After inspection, they have a very slight irregular wear pattern to them. I'll change them out sooner or later and see if that does it.

I have the same vent shields on my truck. I took it out today to go pick up another truck and it does it too. Only when the window is cracked though. Mine are only held on with a couple of screws. If yours are I would take them off to see if it makes a difference and put them back on.
