These might seem like basic questions, but I am new to Chevy trucks:
1. For safety and comfort, I want to find some seats with some headrests. They can be bucket or bench. Will seats from any 73-87 Chevy truck fit into my 78 regular cab 4x2 3/4T, or should I be looking for certain years? Will other years fit? I want direct bolt-in without much messing around.
2. Who has the best deal and best fit on new door panels for the same truck. Exact reproduction style does not matter to me - just looks nice, fits right, and comes with the arm rests.
Thanks for the help.

i think any bench seats 73-87 will bolt right up but as far as buckets you have to make them fit. someone will follow and tell you what you need to do to get them to fit.

Thanks Irish. Bench is fine with me.... I'm guessing they made benches with headrest more in later year trucks (80's rather than 70's)? Is there a certain model that a bench seat with headrest would more likely be found in... or is it a crap shoot?

to tell you the truth in my 86 i have no head rest in my 79 i have no head rest. i cant seam to think of any with head rest that I've seen stock. but heck I'm a young buck and theres guys out here that seen allot more than i have

No 73-87 pickup had head rests. That started in 1988 on the new bodystyle truck. You can put them in ours, but the seat is not as long.

No headrest seat 73-87? Rats!
So will an 88 and later seat with headrest fit in a 78-87 and line up with bolt holes? How much shorter is the seat in width?

Actually headrests for trucks didn't start in the CK series until 1992

I had one in my truck, its a pretty big project but its not that hard. I took the headrest off of mine. Check out this link.
