Title: installing the "rare" power mirrors on my '91 burb. looking a part

Hey Guys,
 I want to install a set of the rare power mirrors on my '91 suburban that has the large standard mirrors on it now. I have everything( mirrors,switch, and all the wiring pigtails) and i know that i will have to do alittle body work the fill the mounting holes the old mirrors will leave,( perfect timing, truck needs paint anyway) .
 What i need is the small bracket(brace) that bolts to the "inner" door and mounts to 1 of the mirror bolts. I believe it is there to support the weight of the mirrors and keeps the door skin from "ripping" everytime you close the door. Does anyone know where i can find these?
 They are differnt for the power mirrors because the power mirrors mount in a different location on the door.
Also will a set of mirrors form a g-20 van work? i found a set of power mirrors on a van and they appear to be closer to the same as the standard mirrors i already have on my truck.
 Seems if the van mirrors would work, that would save me from the bodywork part of this whole upgrade.

You can probably still get most of these parts from the GM dealership.

They aren't "rare" though, just a Silverado/SLE only option which required power windows and locks.  My 90 Burb has them.

Wow! I have a silverado, but it doesn't have that option, and i see alot of them and very rarely see them.
 Anyway i haven't tried the dealer, most of the time they tell me that everything is discontinued. so i haven't had a whole lot of faith in them, but i'll give em a shot, Thanks

The base, and mirror head are the same from a van, the arm is different.

What do you mean" the arm is different"? do you mean the angle of the arm or the lenth?
 I really want  power mirrors on my rig, and i really like the look of the P.M's  that come factory on the burbs.But the mirrors on the g-20 vans look good, also.The doors on my burb are in perfect  shapeand the time i would have to spend on filling in those holes could be better spent doing other things. So any info i could get before i go " drillin & fillin" would help.

The power mirrors came on Burbs and Blazers with the power convienence group.
The mounting portion is different, the actual mirror is the same even as the new model trucks (88-99)

The arms on trucks are a 90 degree bend. All the vans I have ever messed with the arm bends more than 90 degrees. Not by much but enough so the mirror head is a little cockeyed when they are used on a truck door.

so it's possible to swap the heads and wiring onto the burb/truck mirror bases?

Yes, if you have the base you can put the mirror head on it.  I had to replace mine on my Burb and I just went to the dealer to get a new one.  Same PN as the newer truck mirrors.
