Title: More 85 Suburban Tailgate Window Problems
Post by: AdrianR on March 20, 2009, 06:28:32 pm
Guys
The glass on my burb's tailgate seems to be outside of it's left & right vertical channels - how in heck can I get it running back in to them?

The window itself doesn't move correctly as the passenger side regulator arm is free, rather than running in its cam channel under the window. I can pop the reg arm back in to the channel but then I can't secure the channel itself to the sash - perhaps because it is being misaligned due to the glass not being in ITS channels...

Any guesses? The motor works OK

Are the arms twisting? Lube everything up good. Make sure the sash molding is attached good. Clean everything and lube it good, make sure the regulator arms are not twisting.

Just to complete the story.

I removed the cam channels from the glass sash and disconnected the regulator arms. This allowed me to ease the glass down, open the tailgate (finally!), clean & lube everything, set the glass correctly in its side channels and reconnect the regulator arms to the cam channels.

I now have a working tailgate window - just need to fix the external keyswitch.

GOOD GUY ALERT: Thanks to Caddylow for the help and advice.
