All of this stuff is missing from the center of my wheel. I bought a grab bag of what looks to be 80%(?) of the parts (plus enough for several more jobs) off ebay for $9. It looks like I still need to buy the contacts, and I'm wondering what else might be needed. Can any post or point me to an exploded view of this assembly?

That explains a lot. It looks like I have a steering wheel from something else. It looks similar, but not quite the same...
Thanks for posting this - I'll save it for later.

Searching on line, It appears to be a mid-80's version with a larger, more rectangular horn button. From what is there to compare to, I think the type of parts I need to make it work are very similar.

you have a stock wheel right ? are one of these the ones you have or you could have one like me and have a 73-76 horn button and your truck is a 78 lol

Well, this is the button I needed. The guy says it was from an 82 Silverado. True or not, it fits the steering wheel that is in my 78.
I have the horn working now by pressing the Cup (Part 2 in exploded diagram), so this button will wrap up the job.
Thanks for the help guys. Beep Beep!
