Do you need donut gaskets if you have manifolds that look like this?
The exhaust piping is flared to fit over the rounded part on the manifold which people tell is what acts as the seal to prevent air leaks.

Am I correct in the thinking that the flared part that rests on the exhaust manifold creates a seal? But what about when the truck warms up? We know that metal expands so wouldn't that create an exhaust leak?

Those manifolds dont require a donut. My old mustangs and such do require an asbestos type donut, and the design was really poor. I have never had those problems with any of my chevy trucks. When it warms up, they both expand together. No leaks.
