Title: Getting started
Post by: sundog on March 26, 2009, 02:42:20 am
Hello all, I have found this forum very helpfull in the past and now need some suggestions. I am bringing an old 74 Blazer back to life. It has been in the deserts of Nevada and Arizona all its life. No rust but all the plastic and rubber parts are history. Who are the best vendors for all the stuff I will need to make this back into a comfortable driver with windows that roll, vents that move and seals to keep the infrequent water outside? Also dash pads and upholstery? Has anybody put one of the newer motor and transmission combo's in place of the old 350? I have access to a 2007 Tahoe engine and tranny as well as a 383 and 700r4 combo. Your thoughts and suggestions will be appreciated.

We sell everything except weatherstripping pieces for your truck.
As for the motor, I would go for the Tahoe setup.

For a driver, definitely go with the Tahoe setup (a 5.3/4L65E ?).  For a limited-use street rod, go with the 383/700R4.
