Im debating between an airbag and just lowering a truck shackels and all. I dont want to sacrifice my ride though want it to still run smooth. which will give me that? Air ride or just lowering it? Please give me some ideas.

From what I researched, if you want soft you want air. You also will get a higher bill and depending how low you want to go, it may require a large c-notch. A static drop will be much cheaper and a little easier for the "do it your selfer" to install. If you go lower with a flip kit in the rear(roughly 6") the c-notch is not as dramatic and won't protrude through the bed. I think the latest issue of "Truckin" has an article explaining the differences. I haven't checked that out yet but I will.

How low do you want it? If you like the ride now you can do a 3" spindle and a rear flip kit that will not effect the ride as you keep the same springs.

I just flipped my axle,3 inch spindles, and cut one coil from the front of my truck. The ride isn't bad at all....
I didn't notch the frame either...and it doesn't hit the axle. Here's why though----I removed the factory bump stops and brackets from the rear frame....and just bought a set of 3/4" poly bump stops. All I did was drill a hole in the rear frame and it's good to go.
