I want a good sealing primer that will hold out moisture...or even a semi gloss. I like those looks. What do you guys recommend on a budget?
-
PPG's DP 40. Black, epoxy primer.
-
where can i find that and how much is it?
-
The PPG Black DP is 90 & I also would recommend it. I don't know the cost offhand, however I would guess about $80 for a qt of primer & the qt of activator, you can put a splash of reducer in it to lay down a little smoother. Any auto paint supply store carrying PPG products will have it. There are some less expensive ones out there that I'm not real familiar with that may work fine also. Lorne

Oh yeah 40 is gray, sorry bout that.

Blazin' Actually the 40 is the Green, 48 is White, 50 is Gray & the 90 is the Black ;)

Been about 8 years since I used it, I put 90 on a fiberglass shower I built, but haven't used it since then. I used epoxy as I wanted a water proof primer over the urethane primer I had used to fill with. I used the 90 because I was spraying the shower with Black Imron. Have used couple other brands since then, but only the, grayish green. Martin Senior, and Nason, think they only have the one color. Back 20 plus years ago when I first started out I think PPG only offered black, and gray.

Okay so this is the color I'm looking for. I've loved it since I've seen this car. It almost looks semi gloss. Does semi gloss hold out moisture?

Anything rattlecan I can use to seal out the moisture for now while I finish the body work? I have to get rid of the rust that's bleeding through the primer.

DP90 wasn't meant to be left exposed. I had one and it will eventually wipe off.
