Nice set up. Looks great with the 89-91 nose, 8 lugs axles and hurricane style rims on it. There has been a few post on this site about how the 88 and up stepside beds would look on our trucks. Now we have a picture to go by. Thanks for posting it. I myself like the looks. I have a 82 2W.D that needs a bed. This may be the way to go. Decent 73-87 stepside beds are getting hard to find.
-
agh.
I like the truck.. but that box has to go! Sorry.
-
not bad... I kinda like it too....
enaberif, just imagine it with all one color and a mean rear bumper on it.

Its not the color. Its the shape, those bumpers don't belong on those trucks sorry :(
-
i didnt think that style rear bumper would look good so i bought a roll pan, bent the 3inch pipes down behind it...also have a hitch to put on....the front bumper i just put on, i didnt like the grill guard and the old chrome bumper...ill post up some other pics, some might be muddy tho....

Urgh.. I meant box! Not bumper.

im going to scuff the bed and primer it in black primer within the next week, hopefully it looks better..if you lift the ged up further than the cab the bed fits better. the lines are a little closer.
-
Looks like a stout little short bed.
-

Looks great, love the color.
Looks like it belongs to our great Army. :)
-
Looks great, I like the bed too but the only thing that I dont like about putting those beds on the older style trucks is the tail lights. I will see if I can find a pic of what my buddy did he kind of covered half the light and modified it to make the old style tail lights fit and it looks good.
-
now you just need some mean black roll bars for it.
-
looks good. i like the color combo.
-
Thanks guys...i painted the hood, cowl, roof and visor green today. The flares, mirrors, grill and door handles are flat black also im really thinking it might hold up.... I am looking for a roll bar to put in the bed but cant find one at a decent price, i do have tho a diamond plate tool box that fits the stepside bed that ill paint hammerhead finish like the bumper...
-
Heres a few of the project thru the years, i have alot of time in this truck and a million pics.... it was free but no motor, trans, rad, fenders or one door... it started out with 2 tenbolts/350/465/208 = blazer donor and 273 gears, then to 1974 d44/14ff 4:10s and finally to 358/465/205...ill post em in the next few posts......thanks for looking at my little project, i call it never done because really it isnt.....lol
-
Here some of it also on the way, nev rockers, cab corners, floor pans, fenders, inner fenders ... i eventually changed it to a 89 gmc suburban rad support with military grill guard. I received a real cheap warn winch bumper and beefed it up with .375 plate. I had to modify it for the body lift and made a skid plate on a 30 degree angle with 85 blazer tow hooks..........

One offroading trip with my old 37s i went up a path too tight and slipped on some roots and tore the mirror off, smashed the door and bedside. That sucked and ive improved my skills much more since then...The door i had but the bed floor was too far gone to patch so i bought the 95 stepside super cheap and made it fit. A rear bumper was too much for my budget at the time so i bought a roll pan from ebay and used light up bolts from dei for the plate lites....they worked perfect and for 20.00 i couldnt go wrong. I also like to go to the local mudboggs and trail rides, its no trailer queen and doesnt have shiny paint.........

That bed actually looks good on that truck. Never seen one that was actually done just heard it talked about.
-
Nice clean build. What did you go with for lift above the shackle flip? Hydro assist must be nice.
-
The bed fit real nice, i had a 2inch body lift and a 3inch, i used the 2 on the cab and the 3 on the bed. worked perfect. But i had to drill all new holes and fill in the old ones. It was trial and error, i think it came out good and doesnt line up too badly.....thanks
Hydro assist works good with the 60 locked, its real nice on the street. I did the west texas offroad pump mod, ems off road sold me the cap and tapped the other for 50.00. The cylinder, hoses and mounts are all from east coast gear supply.....(trail gear 2x8 and 2 3/8 hydralic hoses) works awesome turning 39.5s
Shackle flip is from diy4x with 6inch shackles, cleaned and painted the frame, then i used new 2inch trailmaster springs with out the overload and a zero rate(basicly a bolt in one inch block)....the height comes out to be 4inches plus the 4inch shackle flip, almost even with the 8inch superlift fronts....
-
thats a good lookin truck man
-
Thanks, guys
-
What brand of rear gears did you use?
-
now you just need some mean black roll bars for it.
yeah... giant lights or something.
-
cant find a roll bar that fits the bed right and the gears are richmond, with the detroit locker...
-
Please for the love of .....do not put a roll bar on it. Cage or exo it please.
-
i was thinking a black toolbox and toneau.....im not that hardcore for an exo or even a cage
