Title: 1973 C10 CARB ISSUE?
Post by: GAROLD26 on April 09, 2009, 06:49:37 am
I HAVE A 1973 CHEVY C10 THAT I CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG. IT BOGS DOWN WHEN I TRY TO GIVE IT TOO MUCH GAS. I PUT FUEL LINE CLEANER IN IT, CHANGED THE FUEL PUMP, CLEANED OUT THE LINES AND PUT A NEW FUEL FILTER IN AND IT IS STILL DOING IT. IS THE PROBLEM THE CARB? ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

Garold, It sounds like the accelerator pump system isn't working. Assuming it's a Q-jet, it's in the Left front corner. You will need a kit to fit it. Tell us what carb it is & we can go from there. Lorne

Shame there is no update yet.  This would be easy to figure out if you get us a little more info.

Just use a flat blade screwdriver to depress the accelerator pump while the engine is idling. It should stall the engine. Check for kinked fuel lines also.
