A few people here have but it's not my cup of tea.
-
i have seen a few...i think the step sides look pretty good but not the fleetsides
-
I'm thinking about doing it to my beater stepside. It has a homemade bed on it now built by the previous owner. I've seen lots of 88+ stepside parts trucks in the $500 range. It might be a cheap way out.
-
I think it would look pretty good as long as you reworked the front step on the bed to match the cab. At least the wheel openings are the same shape. On the 67-72's those beds look like they were made for those trucks, except the front wheel opening is round whereas the newer bed has a square opening.

I agree, saw a 67 - 72 stepside on an 81 truck yesterday, I did a double take, it just looked wrong in my opinion. But that 88 stepside doesn't look too bad!

i raised it up an inch further than the cab, the fit is much better like that.

So you didn't have to trim the middle support on the box, just made spacers for the front an back?
-
Hey flat,
if you like it man thats all that matters. If this world liked everything we all did then it be a boring world and life.
thanks

What i did was put a two inch body lift on the cab and 3 on the bed, it worked perfect....alot of people dont like body lifts but it worked good for me...i just took a 3 inch set and used a chop saw and cut em down to 2 for the cab. So i didnt have to worry about the bumper i bought a roll pan and a class 3 drop down hitch. The bed from the back is all hidden behind the cab, i put flares on the bed to match the cab...
-
heres on with flares from 2 weeks ago when i put the bumper on....(http://i463.photobucket.com/albums/qq353/GMC1983/0331091657c.jpg)

The pix are too grainy to really tell how it looks.
-
