Title: block number on my 454

Finally found my block casting number (3999289).  Evidently it's the same block used in the '72 Vette, the '72-'75 Chevelle, other '72-76 passenger cars and '73-'79 trucks.

Anything particularly good or bad about this vintage, or is it generally just a good ol' reliable block?

Nothing wrong with it.  All Blocks are the same it is what is in them that makes them different.
