HI, how do I change the idle on a 82 chevy c10? Is it just a screw? Is it pretty easy, I am a novice at truck work, but my truck idles low and dies so I would like to turn it up a little and see what happens. Thanks Much, Justin

If its an automatic stock should be between 800 & 1000 RPMS. The idle screw is pointing tooward the front on the LH side of the carb. If its about the right RPMs, it could be a small vacuum leak thats causing it to stall. Take some starting fluid and fog a light mist around the carb base, the intake gasket area, and the vacuum hoses. If the idle jumps up and the motor seems to run smoother you have found a leak.

Yeah, like Blazin said, left side(drivers). Look at your throttle linkage and actuate it with your hand. You'll see the screw that stops the linkage from rotating when you let it go. Tighten that screw up a little. I would jack up the rear on stands, put it in gear with the e-brake set and then set the idle while it's running.
