Title: GAS TANK (87 SHORT 2WD)
Post by: p7387 on April 15, 2009, 09:36:59 pm
I AM SMELLING GAS ODORS ON MY 87 SHORT FLEET (TANK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE)
MY MECHANIC SAID HE SEES NOTHING UPON VISUAL INSPECTION AND HE WOULD HAVE TO DROP THE TANK TO SEE WHAT IS GOING ON AT THE TOP.

ARE THERE ANY PARTICULAR ISSUES CONCERNING THESE TANKS? ANY ADVICE ON HOW TO PROCEDE WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

THANKS

4x4 or 4x2, is there mud on it?  There is no reason other than cracked hoses that would cause a smell.

The hoses do crack with age. I would supect a hose before the tank itself. You do have to drop the tank to get to them.
